As reported by Founding Bloggers, Occupy Chicago is paying supporters $20 to appear at a government building in support of a OccupyChicago candidate.
The announcement appeared in the comments section of the OccupyChicago website. It reads:
Everyone please visit the City of Chicago Department of Human resources on the 11Th floor and enter the Hearing Room after 10:00 am. Watch how your taxpayer dollars are wasted. This is a Occupy Chicago candidate running for office in the 36Th Ward. Support this guy Bruce Randazzo. Watch City Hall keep all the good jobs for the insiders. Stay an hour and get $20.00 on the way out. Enjoy
Yes, Bruce Randazzo is a real person, and he ran for Alderman in the 36th ward in February, 2011. At APM, we are looking into whether these comments posted on the site can be corroborated, or were they planted on the website.
More on this story as it comes out.
**UPDATE** On Twitter, Matt Johnson (who describes himself as a “Union activist, vegan, and agitator for social change”) responded by saying that:
@Foundingblogger@gatewaypundit@rebelpundit@tookiew@tonykatzOccupy Chicago has no candidates and pays no one.
We responded by asking if they have ever paid anyone, and what is his official position within the movement. We are waiting for a reply.
