I was speaking at the AFP “Real Facts. Real Solutions.” bus tour in Roanoke, VA when the decision came down. After the immediate confusion on whether or not the mandate was still in existence, it became clear that the court has allowed Obamacare to go forward with certain provisions that uphold the 10th amendment, and state’s rights (specifically on Medicaid.)

While the next few hours brought unlimited numbers of conservatives and Republicans to anger and frustrations, and talk of the nation being finished, I took a nap. As a matter of fact, I took two.

I disagree with the court’s ruling. I was hoping that the law would be thrown out. I was surprised to see this maneuver from the Court to say the mandate was out via the Commerce Clause, but that Obamacare could exist as a tax (the same tax that President Obama himself claimed that Obamacare was not! Also of note, Justice Sotomayor and Justice Ginsburg, with their position, have called Obama a liar, which he is.)

But now we aren’t arguing a Constitutional principle, we’re talking about tax policy in America – and the Supreme Court just confirmed that this is the biggest tax increase in American history!

Over the past three years, since the start of the Tea Party, we have been talking about tax policy in America. We have educated America about the overspending from government. We have forced the conversation about debt and deficits. Now, SCOTUS has told America that Obama gave you a monumental tax increase.

We know how to fight this fight. This is our fight to win.
