Hillary Clinton Screams At America, Takes Responibility For Benghazi By Not Taking Responsibility

Finally speaking out about the State Department’s ineptness in protecting the US Embassy in Benghazi, which led to the death of US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, (two of whom were US Navy Seals) Secretary of State Hillary Clinton answered questions about the inadequate security, and the deception of the American people in the aftermath. She took responsibility from the start, and then spent the rest of her testimony not taking any responsibility at all.

In addition, the rest of her testimony was an emotional “hot mess.” Secretary Clinton resorted to crying and screaming to get her point across. That point being, “Not Me.”

  • The selection of Susan Rice as US Ambassador to the United Nations? Not Me.
  • The decision on what talking points would be used by Ambassador Rice on the Sunday shows? Not Me.
  • Blaming a video for the attacks? Not Me.
  • Those cables that Ambassador Stevens sent repeatedly about security in Benghazi, including one on the day he was murdered? Never saw ‘em. Not Me.
  • Who is at fault? I’ll claim to take the blame. But, as my answers clearly show, Not Me.

Seems Secretary Clinton got her talking points from Family Circus.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was clear with Secretary Clinton, stating that if he were the Commander-In-Chief he would have relieved her of her post, calling her actions a “failure of leadership.”

In her opening statement, Clinton stated:

As I have said many times since September 11, I take responsibility. Nobody is more committed to getting this right. I am determined to leave the State Department and our country safer, stronger, and more secure.

Taking responsibility meant moving quickly in those first uncertain hours and days to respond to the immediate crisis and further protect our people and posts in high-threat areas across the region and the world. It meant launching an independent investigation to determine exactly what happened in Benghazi and to recommend steps for improvement. And it meant intensifying our efforts to combat terrorism and support emerging democracies in North Africa and beyond.

HotAir’s Allahpundit sums it up – “So you see, “taking responsibility” in this case is actually just a pretext to list all of the things she did right afterward, not to revisit her and her underlings’ shameful negligence…”

Allahpundit is right, and Sen. Paul is dead on. Clinton’s answers and deflections are not the actions of a leader. Her constant claims of no guilt for a litany of poor decisions and her own lacking leadership should not be acceptable to any Americans. Her histrionics during her testimony only make them more glaring. Those who accept responsibility are contrite. Secretary Clinton was anything but.

As always, may all our prayers be with the families of Ambassador Stevens, US Navy Seals Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods and US Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith.
