Tony Katz talks about Tea Party Victory

Posted on 15 July 2010 by the team

Tony Katz, host of the Tony Katz Radio Spectacular, wrote an article about an undeniable Tea Party victory. We encourage you to read it, and share it with others.

“Let me write the ballads of a country, and I care not who writes the laws.” – Plato

I first heard this quote from Bill Whittle. If you don’t know Bill, I encourage you to check out his work on PJTV. Bill is one of the great minds of our generation. He is with few equals. He is brilliant.

One of Bill’s most thought-provoking and in-depth commentaries is about the concept of Iconography – the use of visual icons and artistry to convey a message. He points out that iconography is part of the American culture; about how the sight of Mickey Mouse can evoke far different feelings that that of the Playboy bunny. Think about the world around you. You know a McDonald’s is ahead of you when you see the tips of the Golden Arches. You know an Apple computer by that very simple apple. The Apple logo is so identified with Apple computers that they do not need to put the name Apple next to it.

Obama has been masterful in his use of iconography. The “O” as Whittle describes it, looks like a rising sun on a field of the American flag, denoting a positive future. There is no doubting that Whittle is right in his assessment – iconography is extremely important. Images move us, they compel us. They can evoke emotions of joy, of anger, of love, of hate, of pride, of despair. We are a visual nation, and, as some other smart people have said, “Image is everything.”

Tony Katz on Obama’s Immigration Speech

Posted on 02 July 2010 by the team

Tony Katz, host of The Tony Katz Radio Spectacular (6pm EST, 3pm PST) provides his unique take on President Obama’s speech regarding “immigration reform.” For the full text, visit his personal site at TonyKatz.com.

The President recently made remarks on the concept of “immigration reform.”  He stood regally, read from his tele-prompt-ers (peppered with awkward pauses due, most likely, to a poor Tele-promp-ter Management Administrator) and spoke about things that almost made sense.  However, he would quickly correct himself by speaking in his more familiar tongue of nonsense.  Simply, it was a speech that was meant to say, “I gave a speech.”  It was, once again, quasi-action designed to give the appearance of action from an administration that is deeply and gravely opposed to the concept of action – on a subject (illegal immigration) that requires definitive action.

I have grown accustomed to the nonsense from this administration.  I have watched them with their deft skills maneuver around big issues, skirt major decision and purposefully fail to achieve solutions. This is the mark of the Statist.  Problems offer opportunities for expanding power (government control) whereas solutions remove the opportunity to expand power (government control).  Many people quote Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel when he said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” What they fail to mention, however, is the second part, which is the most telling, and most damning. Emanuel continues, “…and what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

Protest the Los Angeles City Council Boycott of Arizona

Posted on 24 May 2010 by the team

Tony Katz, host of the Tony Katz Radio Spectacular, is proud to be an organizer of the Protest of the Los Angeles City Council Boycott of Arizona.  Tony will also be a speaker at the event, along with All Patriots Media contributors TJ McCormack, Stephen Kruiser and Sonja Schmidt.  The press release is below.

Please join us Tuesday morning at 8:45am to show the LA City Council that we do not approve of their boycott of the State of Arizona.
Rally/Press Conference at Los Angeles City Hall

Join us Tuesday morning May 25th, at 8:45am on the south lawn of the LA City Hall. We will have a rally/press conference to let the LA City Council that there are citizens of Los Angeles who do not approve the boycott of Arizona.

The State of Arizona has been severely impacted by the effect of illegal immigrants entering their state. Crime, including violent crime and murders, has increased substantially committed by illegal immigrants. The fiscal impact on the budget of the State of Arizona by illegal immigrants has been devastating.

There is a federal law that is almost the identical language to the Arizona law. The feds have not enforced the law. In addition, the U.S. Constitution, says the following:

Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution: The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

Not only that, but there is a California Law that is almost identical to the Arizona Law.
http://law.onecle.com/california/penal/834b.html  That law is not enforced by California either.

Since the Feds are not doing the job they are supposed to do in Arizona, that state is perfectly justified in taking matters in its own hands.

The City of Los Angeles has turned out to be a sanctuary city where illegal immigrants are free to enter, to live, to use our social services and will never be challenged. Our Los Angeles City Council is supportive of not enforcing immigration laws.

We think it is inappropriate and did not make economic sense for the City Council to boycott Arizona. We also think that the City Council (with the exception of Greig Smith who voted against the boycott) took the position they did to pander to Latino voters rather than an issue of right or wrong.

Join us at 8:45am on Tuesday, May 25th on the south lawn of City Hall. We want to keep this rally focused on the issue of the boycott of Arizona. Do not bring signs related to any other issue. We also have to stay on the lawn and not block traffic. Do not stand in the street.

Confirmed Speakers at the rally as of now are:

TJ McCormack (Host) – Radio Talk Show Host
Tony Katz – Radio Talk Show Host
Stephen Kruiser – Comedian and PJTV Host
Sonja Schmidt – Comedian and PJTV Host
Walter Moore – Former candidate for Los Angeles Mayor, author, attorney
Errol Valladares – Chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly – LA North
Teresa Hernandez – Political Activist – owner of El Cielito Restaurant.

The following picture is an aerial of the City Hall area. The Red X shows where we will meet, the Blue Pshows where there is a nearby parking structure.

Please come out to join us for this rally. We want to have a good turnout to show City Council that there are citizens of Los Angeles who do not agree with the boycott of Arizona.

Tony Katz Talks about Massa

Posted on 08 March 2010 by the team

This is a repost from the host of The Tony Katz Radio Spectacular, Tony Katz, regarding Rep. Massa and the unquenchable desires of Statism.  See the original post here.

_______________________________________________________________

Massa, and Serving the Statists

The Eric Massa story continues.

The story starts last week, when Massa, (D-NY) a freshman Congressman, was implicated in a potential sex scandal. It came to light that he may have made inappropriate advances towards a male staffer. A few days later, Massa came out with a statement saying that he would resign on the following Monday. That yes, he uses extremely foul language in his inner office, and that the blame lies with him about it.

But now, a new story. However, it’s a same old story. Massa is a “no” vote on Forced Universal Health Care. He has been in the past, and he continues to be now. The Obama Administration has already stated, in all sorts of language, that they will do whatever it takes to pass their Statist agenda. Now, Massa is saying that the administration is behind this story – that the supposed “inappropriate advance” is total nonsense, and that House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) is guilty of leaking the story, and perpetuating the myth.

Massa claims that it is not a string of incidents, but rather an incident. One. At a wedding of a Massa staffer on New Years Eve, and (my words) of guys being goofs (as more comes out about this story, the more that “guys being goofs” is just not the case.) Massa’s wife was not feeling well, and they both left the wedding to go back to the hotel room. Massa then comes back to the party to sing “Auld Lang Syne.” He dances with the bride, with a bridesmaid and then joins a table of staffers – all men, and all single (except for Massa.) One of the staffers turns to Massa, and jokes that Massa should make his move on the bridesmaid. Massa then, according to his account, “…grabbed the staff member sitting next to me and I said, ‘What I really ought to be doing is frakking you,’ and then tossled the guy’s hair and left, went to my room, because I knew the party was getting to a point where I shouldn’t be there.”

Massa went on a radio station to explain this story:

Stories are now coming out regarding run-ins with Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, including in the gym showers. Massa is clear in his most recent statements – the Obama Administration has launched this probe, and has made it public (and leaked it!) in order to force him out of Congress because he is voting no on their Statist prize – Forced Universal Health Care.

Where is the truth? What is the fiction? What can be believed? Why is it happening?

Massa, one would think, has a long way to go in proving any legitimacy in this claim. He already came out last week and announced that he would be resigning. He mentioned some health issues (a recurrence of cancer.) He already admitted that he owns this reality. There is a very open and shut case that can be told about Massa. This latest outburst could be spun as the last gasps of a dying man. An angry, bitter, defeated and somewhat out of control man.

But the story is too close to the reality we already know about. The Administration will stop at nothing to pass Healthcare. Rahm Emanuel is known as a pit bull, with a history of obscenity-laden tirades and a remarkably gruff style (even President Obama has joked about Emanuel’s profanity.) It seems to be well within the realm of possibilities that Massa has been hung out to dry by the Administration. That Rep. Hoyer did leak the probe before it was concluded. That there is a concentrated effort to get rid of him, so that his vote can not stop the House from passing any convoluted version of Forced Universal Healthcare they wish.

The Statist agenda fits this story. Nothing can get in the way of their desired goals. The ends always justifies the means. The possible ruiniation of a man’s career is small potatoes, especially when you consider that the administration is willing to destroy Capitalism to provide less effective health insurance to people who are already have the health insurance of their choice (all in the guise of helping others,) and throw others in jail if they don’t buy health insurance.

Massa is now reconsidering his resignation. If he does stay in the House, one has to wonder if he will reconsider the “D” after his name, as well.

*****NOTE*****
Rep. Massa did resign, as he said he would, which is strange if his stories are true. He then went on Glenn Beck’s show on FOXNews, and proceeded to look foolish. Michelle Malkin has done a great job in exposing the past of Massa as well.

I asked in the post, “Where is the truth? What is the fiction? What can be believed?” So far, the only thing we know for sure is that Massa is one strange fellow.

Tea Party Thoughts from Tony Katz

Posted on 26 February 2010 by the team

From Tony Katz, host of The Tony Katz Radio Spectacular —

365 days ago, I became a member of the Tea Party. I stood on the pier in Santa Monica, and watched a small, but vibrant crowd of strangers get together. I shook near every hand that gathered that day. And I had the privilidge, and, as I look back on it, the honor, to be the first person ever to speak at a Los Angeles Tea Party rally.

In my review of the past 365 days, the economy sank – both the country’s and mine – and businesses floundered – both the country’s and mine . As a Capitalist, I have always known that if you keep looking, keep searching, keep fighting, keep thinking, keep trying, you will find you way to the success you endeavor. I knew that losing funding on a new business would be painful, (and it was) but it would not be forever. It was the business that lost, not me. I was still here. Organizing Tea Parties, letting my voice be heard, and helping others do the same.

From that first rally in Santa Monica, to the Tax Day Tea Party in Van Nuys, to the success of 912West and all of the events in between and since, I am overjoyed by the response of Los Angeles to the Tea Parties. I am thrilled by its success, and its growth, across the country. I am thrilled to see people actively participating in their nation, running for office on principle-based tickets, not party-based. It seems that there are million who truly embrace the mantra of “Principle. Not Party.” I am thrilled to see that the movement is moving overseas. People taking control of their lives, taking responsibility for their past actions, and working to make better choices in the future, for their futures.

Nothing is done alone. The Tea Party Movement is proof of that. And while we remain joyously leaderless, (regardless of MSNBC’s claims) there are some people who need to be thanked. They were first, because someone had to be first. What makes me feel so great is the knowledge that they are not the last, and that we many not see the last for many years to come (regardless of what Gov. Schwarzenegger says.)

My thanks to Brooks Bayne, Stephen Kruiser, Ashley Nicole Ingram, Justin Smith and Gary Aminoff. I had a growing friendship with Brooks, but I didn’t know the others. 365 days later, they are friends. We talk, we drink, we smoke cigars, we laugh, we learn, we argue. We do the things that friends of a lifetime do. Our lifetime started 365 days ago. Our Tea Party bond makes it strong.

My thanks to Top Conservatives on Twitter, created in the fall of 2008, which got people talking to each other. The hashtag #TCOT made it possible to reach others quickly and effectively, and those early members helped spread the word about Tea Parties, and made them viable across the country.

My thanks to my wife, whom I do not blog about. And, while I haven’t done the search, I believe this is the first time I have ever referenced her. As I stated earlier, Nothing is done alone. While I was organizing, my wife was giving advice, holding down our family, and supporting the decisions that we made to work hard for the Tea Party Movement. We knew, and we still know, that we control our destinies. That our children should have the same freedom and liberty that we had. That this is our motivation. We owe it to them. If picking a spouse was a game show, then I’m the guy who won the Amazing Race. Luckily for me, I’m still on that race with someone I love.

And to all of you I have met over the course of this year. To the great work you do, and will do, let me say thank you. In Los Angeles, we don’t believe in career Tea Party politicians. That is why I have stepped back from organizing, and good people like Michael Fell have come in to lead LA. While I will never stop being a part of the Tea Party Movement, the Tea Parties are not about one person. They are about we. They are about you. Everyone must participate. Everyone must put their skin in the game. Everyone must take responsibility. Without that, the Tea Party Movement has no chance of survival. With that, Statism has no chance of survival.

One year later, and I couldn’t be more proud. A year that brought my family the worst economic times in our history, has made us rich beyond words. We thank you all for that.

I can not wait to see what 2010 brings us.
