Lovie Smith and Michael Strahan Disagree About African-Americans For Obama

michael_stranahan

Recently, President Obama launched African-Americans for Obama, bringing high profile to his identity-politics presidential campaign. The purpose of the organization is to tell black Americans that their job is to vote for Obama because, well, he’s black, too. No need to look at job performance, the economy, or broken promises.

Recently, Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith added his voice to the organization. In his video for AAFO, he states:

I have the President’s back. And its left up to us, as African-Americans, to show that we have his back also. Join African-Americans for President Obama today.

However, back in 2009, a group celebrities got together to pledge their undying love (and service) to President Obama. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher led the charge on the “I, Pledge” video, and were helped along by Courtney Cox, Anthony Kiedis, Eva Longoria and Cameron Diaz, among others. One of those who participated was former New York Giant and now FOX Sports commentator Michael Strahan. However, his message was quite the opposite of Smith’s, and not in line with African-Americans for Obama: (plays at 1:05)

(I pledge) to consider myself an American, not an African-American…

I’m with Strahan. The hyphenation of America leads to our downfall. We have seen this in our schools, where students battled over the wearing of American flag t-shirts on Cinco de Mayo. The Mexican-American students said they would never wear Mexican flag t-shirts on Independence Day. They didn’t see themselves as American (Independence Day is their holiday, too!) The hyphen got in the way.

In 2009, President Obama and his supporters were (allegedly) talking about bringing people together. In 2012, President Obama and his supporters have thrown away all pretenses, and are actively engaging in race and class warfare. What causes that kind of switch? Perhaps the recognition that your re-election chances are slim to none.

Attacking Andrew Breitbart through his wife

Andrew Breitbart

Many people have taken a sickening amount of glee in the death of Andrew Breitbart. Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi said he was glad he was dead. The same words were echoed by radio host John Sylvester in Wisconsin and liberal talker Mike Malloy. Numerous tweets have documented the joy in the death of the journalist/blogger/truth seeker. But nothing compares to the attack on Breitbart’s widow, Susie Breitbart.

A fake Twitter account has been created under the name “SusieBreitbart.” The account clearly mentions that it is a fake account, and then proceeds to defame Andrew and Susie with an incredibly grotesque commentary. Among the comments put up by the anonymous source:

I wish #Kony would get all up in this pussy. God I love black cock.

Kony refers to Joseph Kony, the subject of this viral video describing the atrocities he has committed in Africa, including raping and kidnapping children.

@michellemalkin why u so cross eyed?

A response to blogger and journalist Michelle Malkin, whose parents are Filipino.

In addition to the disgusting nature of the comments, there is a remarkable undercurrent of racism:

#RIPAndrew ever since he died I have sucked 18 black dicks. Okay, I think 3 of them might have been puerto ricans.

Just fucked our gardner. You now call me Susie Beaner.#RIPAndrew

Getting #blackdick tonight!! #RIPAndrew

The racism apparent is in trying to evoke feelings of disgust based on the idea that Susie Breitbart would cavort with someone who was black. As commentator AlfonZo Rachel noted on Facebook:

Ahhhh yes. The true colors of liberal bigotry. What’s the best way to demean a person? To accuse them of being intimately involved with a black person. It’s a projection of what they find unacceptable. Susie Still remains a class act amidst liberal trolls being an ass act.

The true colors here are two-fold: The inherent racism ingrained in the perpetrator, and the depths of their depravity. When we learn who has created the account, we will add to the story.

Let Democrats Vote for Santorum

Rick_Santorum

Here is my latest article on TownHall.com. The Romney campaign was infuriated that Rick Santorum was sending out robocalls to Democrats in Michigan, asking for their vote. Remember, the key to winning a political office is winning:

Let the Democrats Vote For Santorum

NOTE – This article was written before the Michigan and Arizona primary. Mitt Romney won both.

The biggest lie ever told is that there is something more important than winning in politics. For the rest of us, the concepts of valor, honesty and morals have clear cut lines and distinctions. Certainly, on a governing level, they do for the Presidential candidates as well. But first, you have to win. That’s what Rick Santorum is trying to do, and that feigned outrage of Mitt Romney and Co. is just laughable. They’re not offended…they’re scared.

In the state of Michigan, the primary system is open. Anyone who is a registered voter may vote in the GOP primary. Any registered Democrat may show up to a polling place, sign in (not sure if ID’s are required, but if they are, you know, racism!) and vote. Democrats are using this as an opportunity to vote for someone who they don’t believe in, but who they think will make it harder on the Republicans going forward.

As with all Leftist ideas, it has no originality or is straight out stolen from someone else. In this case, it was stolen from Rush Limbaugh, who called it Operation Chaos during the Obama-Clinton primary battle. In Michigan, they are calling it Operation Hilarity. Democrats are calling on Democrats to ask for a Republican ballot at their polling place, and vote for Rick Santorum. Their bet? According to Daily Kos:

“…to keep the Republican primary race in a deadlock in order to tarnish the viability of the frontrunners and ensure a second term for Obama.”

A Santorum win will make Romney a weaker candidate.  If Romney loses Michigan (his home state, where his father was a three-term governor) he can no longer claim the mantle of “obvious choice.” He is no longer the front-runner. Electability? Are you kidding?

Would it be so shocking to realize that Santorum can love God AND not be the Leftist caricature of someone who loves God? Santorum is not dumb, as the Left thinks of all of those “bible thumpers!” (He may be a believer in the value of big government, but that’s just wrong…far different than dumb.) Santorum has put out robo-calls to Democrat voters, asking them to vote for him. He’s pro-actively pursuing Democrat votes. Romney called it a “dirty trick,” saying:

“We don’t want Democrats deciding who our nominee is going to be, we want Republicans deciding who our nominee is going to be.”

It’s not a dirty trick. It’s called running for President!

Santorum has lost in Arizona with its large Mormon population and its early ballots that have had people voting weeks ago. He has Super Tuesday staring him in the face. He doesn’t have a full slate of delegates in Tennessee, and he’s not on the ballot in Virginia. His entire future presidential career is riding on a victory in Ohio. (And, to be clear, this is it for Santorum. If he loses the primary, he will never have an opportunity to run for President again. There will be no second chance for Santorum like Romney has received. None.)

Splitting the primaries is a must for Team Santorum. He must win Michigan to give himself the necessary boost to take Ohio, and force the race to Tampa, site of the 2012 Republican National Convention. Yes, Michigan is a proportionate state, with 30 delegates on the line. But, while the race for each delegate is necessary (1144 delegates are needed to get the nomination,) the win is greater than the delegate count right now. A win in Michigan proves that he can win the nomination. It proves that his victories in Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota were not a fluke.

Further, it sets in the mind that Mitt can’t take competition. If he can’t beat Santorum, how the hell is he going to beat Obama? Fast-forward to Super Tuesday. What happens if Newt Gingrich takes Georgia and Tennessee? Gingrich will rise, and the “inevitability” of Romney will become the “what happened to” Romney. It will take a Herculean effort on his part, along with an incredible amount of money, to get back into the game. Romney has taken on challenges before, and has remained at the top of the pack. But a loss in Michigan and a three-way race out of Super Tuesday brings about another possibility – the brokered convention. If he loses Michigan and splits Super Tuesday, you can almost (almost!) bet on it.

For those people unhappy with their current choices, what better news than a possible (possible!) brokered convention. Yes, let the Democrats vote. It doesn’t hurt the field, as the Democrats want to think. The opposite is true (as it is with most Leftist ideas!) it strengthens the field either way – determining it, or forcing a new look at it. Besides, maybe some of the Democrats will get used to the idea of voting for Republicans, and vote for them again in November. (Maybe!)

Happy Birthday Tea Party!

This is one cool piece of Tea Party swag!

From TonyKatz.com:

Three years ago today, I stood on the pier in Santa Monica, CA, wondering if anyone else would show up for the first ever Tea Party in California. It was just a week since CNBC’s Rick Santelli gave his now famous rant, and inspired Americans from across the nation to stand up to big government spending. For some of us, we had been opposed to big government for days, weeks, months and years before, but Santelli’s words got us off the couch and on to the streets.

Three years later, the Tea Party has changed, grown, learned and thrived. Almost two years removed from the epic mid-term victories of 2010, we have remained the key political force in America; thoroughly dominating the political and cultural debate in the US. Candidates search for our approval, enemies try to vilify us, the establishment (once thrilled to have us around) is trying to ignore us. Yet our numbers grow. Not in any one organization or database or under some catchy banner, website or slogan, but in the numbers of people who are fully engaged in their civic responsibility and, truly, their civic opportunity, never to be separated from their job in being “We, The People!”

Coming into this presidential election cycle, the Tea Party (not having a candidate to call their own) has engaged on other levels. Instead of gathering on street corners, they are vetting local candidates, they are precinct walking and phone banking. The activism has taken shape not in the halls of Congress, but in the halls of the local town hall, the mayor’s office, the state house. It has led to trainings, workshops and education – citizens educating citizens on how to be better citizens.

Going forward, the Tea Party remains as strong and as relevant as it was in those first days. But, like all movements, it will have starts and fits; we will not be immune from growing pains, from those who seek to use the Tea Party as a way towards a fast buck, or others who will utilize it only for their personal or professional gain. We can, we must and we will survive those people, and those growing pains. What lies ahead of all of us in the Tea Party, millions of Americans strong, is a nation of possibilities if “We, The People!” continue to do our part. We remain the greatest nation on Earth if we continue to choose to accept the responsibility of discussing the big issues of what are called The Four Basics – the Constitution, Capitalism and Open Markets, Fiscal Responsibility and Smaller Government – and waver not on their importance in creating a free, prosperous America.

America is young in the timeline of nations, and the Tea Party is young in the timeline of America. Yet, in our three years we have done more to benefit this nation than others could dream of doing in a lifetime. The difference, perhaps, between talking and doing. What the next three years bring is up to us, but it will involve hard work. It will involve education, and action. It will involve – from those opposed to a free, prosperous society – absorbing attacks, anger and vitriol. It will involve standing up for what is right by standing tall against those who are wrong. It will involve an open, honest conversation about what makes a nation great, and how to achieve it, no matter what names you are called to shut you down in an attempt to silence honest conversation. Those attempts must be rendered futile.

To you, the members of the Tea Party, I wish you a Happy Birthday. To those who still want to join, Welcome! The party is just getting started. And, to those who wish to stand in our way – prepare to be defeated.

Happy Birthday, Tea Party! And many more!

Is Sen. Marco Rubio trying to end the GOP Race?

MArco_Rubio

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL,) the Tea Party favorite and well-respected first term Senator is trying to end the GOP race for president as it just starts in earnest. Rubio declared on CNN that:

The winner of Florida is in all likelihood going to be the nominee of our party

Former Governor Mitt Romney has been the front runner in Florida, outspending his main rival, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, by 15 to 1. Romney has also outspent Gingrich on TV, where Romney has spend $15.4 million to Gingrich’s $3.4 million. Yet, the latest polling from Insider Advantage has Gingrich closing the gap, with Romney at 36% and Gingrich at 31%. Public Policy Polling has Romney at 39%, Gingrich at 31%.

With ad spend advantages like that, but polling that only has Romney up by 8%, one wonders whether Rubio’s remarks have validity. If Romney wins Florida by 8%, can his supporters say that it’s a victory that will “run the table” on clinching the nomination?

Many Republicans have tried to make the case that only Romney is “electable,” and therefore the only possible competitor against President Obama in the fall. Rubio is now adding to this meme. Unfortunately, it is based on a myth. No one can properly predict who is and is not electable. One can only push forward the idea in hopes to convince others to stop backing their candidate. In this case, the conversation has led to the creation of two distinct camps; the “Establishment,” with former Senator Bob Dole, former President George H.W. Bush, Senator John McCain, Ann Coulter and Karl Rove, and the “Anti-Establishment,” with Mark Levin, former Governor Sarah Palin (kind of) and Herman Cain. (And how odd to see Newt Gingrich as the “anti-establishment” candidate, who spent 20 years as a member of Congress!)

What Rubio is saying is not based on fact, but based on a desire. With the latest polls out of Ohio and Missouri showing Romney well behind both Gingrich and former Senator Rick Santorum, perhaps Romney is a desire that the voters don’t really have.

I Love Ann Coulter Even When She Is Wrong

Ann Coulter joins Tony Katz live from CPAC

Here is my latest article on TownHall.com. Lots of pundits are discussing electability in the 2012 race, and no one has been more clear on the subject than Ann Coulter. She’s right about a lot of things, but, on the 2012 race, she’s simply wrong:

I Love Ann Coulter Even When She Is Wrong

Ann Coulter is wrong about Newt Gingrich. She is wrong about Mitt Romney. She is wrong about President Obama. Since the election race began, Ann Coulter has been wrong about near everything having to do with the GOP race in 2012. Yet, she’s still smarter than near everyone out there. I love Ann Coulter, even when she’s wrong.

Gingrich won the South Carolina primary by 13% over Romney. In vote total, that is 75,874 more votes for Gingrich. In context, Gingrich beat Romney by a vote total only 2000 less than Rep. Ron Paul got overall. On FOX and Friends on Sunday, Coulter responded to the victory by Gingrich in the South Carolina by admonishing the voters:

Apparently, South Carolinians would rather have the emotional satisfaction of a snotty remark toward the president than to beat Obama in the fall…We saw it in the debates when Gingrich would say things that didn’t really make sense. That is what you usually associate with Democrats, which I described in my last book, ‘Demonic,’ how mobs behave.

Coulter commenting negatively on snotty remarks is like Bill Maher commenting negatively on snotty remarks. The bigger, more accurate story is that Gingrich’s remarks were not snotty, they were accurate. South Carolina agreed that it was wrong of CNN’s John King to start a debate with so-called scandal described by Gingrich’s ex-wife Marianne Gingrich. The applause that Gingrich got Thursday night in Charleston is about a disgust for sensationalism over content. In exit polling, women voted overwhelmingly for Gingrich. If that trend follows in Florida, then it can be clearly said that female primary voters don’t care about Gingrich’s bedroom.

Coulter is wrong about the idea of electability. Legal Insurrection made this point about Coulter’s thoughts just last year: (emphasis mine)

In February 2011 she told us at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) that Romney was a certain loser against Obama, now she tells us he will win. Her excuse was that she was“sick” at CPAC. She also played the birther card on the Tea Party in making the case for Romney. Inexcusable and unforgivable. Coulter’s endorsement of Romney does not a case for Romney make.

The idea of Romney electability of Obama is a myth. It is pushed by Romney supporters with tremendous passion and desire for it to be truth, but it is not. Proof shows just the opposite, as Romney lost in Iowa and South Carolina. The “inevitable” front runner is 1 for 3. Good in baseball, less good in politics. On my radio show, and in interviews across the country, I have stated that Obama can’t win re-election. Any of the men on stage right now will win over Obama.

In South Carolina, both Sen. Rick Santorum and political analyst Dick Morris made sure to stop by the Blogger Bash after their back to back appearances on Hannity Friday night. In front of a gathering of bloggers and radio hosts, Morris made the same point; Obama won’t we re-election. He went so far as to say that Republicans will win 40 states in the general election with any candidate (sans Rep. Ron Paul.)

Coulter might still be feeling scorned by her one true love, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, who decided not to run for President. While questions about his conservatism persist, people love Christie’s tone, mannerisms, and attitude. They love that he’s no nonsense, that he takes on all comers. They salivate for those videos where people try to challenge him. They watch them in their entirety…waiting eagerly for the eventual smack down. Then, they cheer wildly, and share the videos on Twitter and Facebook and G+, in emails and at computer work stations. People like honesty, and respond to those who act firmly in the face of usually unanswered leftist assaults.

Coulter followed Christie in backing Romney. Romney, however, has none of these qualities. He has responded to one questioner on the concept of Capitalism with some aplomb. Otherwise, he comes off as quasi-hysterical. When he took on Gov. Rick Perry (in a conversation about hiring illegals) about who had the right to speak at the moment, his voice was not that of a man in control, but rather a scorned child who wanted her oompa-loompa now! When on FOX with Bret Baier, he called the interview absurd. Just take a look at him answering questions about when he will release his tax returns. He mumbles, he bumbles, he takes offense. Only when trounced by Gingrich does he set a firm date for their release.

Trounced, it must be said, by a man who takes on all comers, who is willing to take on the media, who isn’t afraid of a heckler. Trounced by a man who has people salivating over his debate performances. They watch them in their entirety…waiting eagerly for the eventual smackdown. Then, they cheer wildly. It’s not that they agree with Gingrich on everything, or agree with every political or personal decision he has ever made. They like someone who fights to win. They like Christie. They like Gingrich. They LOVE Ann Coulter! They would like Romney if he did the same. So far, he doesn’t.

Ann Coulter will continue to dominate big think, and will continue to do us proud when it comes to taking on nonsensical leftist talking points. She will eviscerate those who haven’t done their research. She will do it with a smile, with a historical understanding about America, its culture and its values. When she does, we will watch and cheer wildly.

I love this woman. She’s just wrong about the 2012 race.

All the best to Gabrielle Giffords

Rep_Gabrielle_Giffords

From Tony Katz:

On the day that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords got shot at an event in Tuscon, AZ, I was able to convince one of my radio stations to allow me on the air for an hour to discuss it. I knew little of Giffords, but I knew much about what could have been. This was more than a shooting, this was an attack.

Much of what came out of the aftermath of that shooting which killed six was senselessly political in nature. The Tea Party was blamed for the shooting (though it was never true), the use of “targets” on maps was considered out of bounds. There was a push for the “new tone,” which involved the new utilization of political correctness to punish us not only for our words, but how our words were delivered.

And while those on the outside hurled insults, accusation and innuendo (most recently Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz who used the same “Tea Party Did It” lie just a few weeks ago) Rep. Giffords went on the course of healing. She was shot in the head. These things take time.

No one could have been more shocked to see Rep. Giffords, with some slight assistance, walk out onto the House floor for a vote. Without being told, without being asked, without wondering about party politics, the US House of Representatives broke out into thunderous applause at the sight of Giffords. She waved back. Less than a year ago she was shot in the head. There she stood…waving.

Today, she announced that she is leaving the House. In a statement, Giffords said:

Thank you for your prayers and for giving me time to recover. I have more work to do on my recovery. So to do what’s best for Arizona, I will step down this week. I’m getting better. Every day my spirit is high. I will return, and we will work together for Arizona and this great country.

I join countless numbers of Americans in wishing Rep. Giffords the very best in her recovery, and her life. Her story is not political, it is inspirational. It is one that discusses the worst in humanity, the best in medical technology and the amazement of the human spirit. In that one hour on a Saturday in January, no one could have imagined the speed of her recovery. Undoubtedly, it will continue for years to come. But what we see inspires us. It is what we want our nation to be – strong, capable, full of faith and able to rise after we fall.

Before she goes, Giffords will attend the State of the Union. That may well be the only reason to watch. For at least, when the camera pans her way, you will be inspired.
