Tony Katz, host of The Tony Katz Radio Show, had strong words for people on the right who are worried about the 2012 GOP Primary race, thinking that we are not being “nice enough” to each other.
What the hell are you doing worrying about what they are going to say? They are lying, notorious bastards and thieves. Why do you give a damn what the hard core leftist progressive has to say about you? They hate you. They want to destroy you. For what reason are you giving yourself an opportunity to be worried about what they say?
Tony shows his disgust for Democrats and Republicans, and their unwillingness to stand up to President Obama for his dictatorial assault on the Constitution. Stephen Green of VodkaPundit.com weighs in on the subject. Then, we bring the Cigar of the Week, presented by CigarsInReviewMagazine.com.
As reported by HotAir.com, former Democrat Senator and Governor of New Jersey Jon Corzine who resigned as CEO of MF Global after leading them to a disastrous bankruptcy, testified in front of Congress about what happened to the company, and to $1.2 billion dollars that are “missing.”
Corzine, who had reported to be taking the Fifth at the hearing, answered the questions put to him the by House committee. His repeated answer for where the money went?
In his prepared testimony submitted before the hearing, Corzine said he could not explain what happened to “many hundreds of millions of dollars” that the firm was holding for customers. He said he was “stunned” to learn shortly before the firm sought bankruptcy protection at the end of October that MF Global could not account for the money.
“I simply do not know where the money is, or why the accounts have not been reconciled to date,” Corzine said, according to the testimony.
As Ed Morrissey commented, this kind of “forgetfulness” just doesn’t fly:
Well, what could Corzine have said that would have contributed to a potential “misunderstanding”? “Gee, guys, wouldn’t it be great if we had another billion or so dollars we could tap to back up our play on Euro debt”? Or maybe,”Do you think anyone would notice if a billion or so in customer assets went missing”? This is the kind of statement that a competent cross-examiner would seize in an effort to drill into Corzine’s testimony.
The idea that someone doesn’t know at that level what happened to their client’s money is a crime (both morally and legally.) MF Global was required to keep their client’s money separate from other funds. The fact that the money is missing means that the money was either misplaced, misused or mistaken as their own.
Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) who sits on the House Committee on Agriculture, which is conducting the hearings, summed up the position of Corzine well:
As the President said in my home state of Kansas this week, there is a ‘huge deficit of trust between Main Street and Wall Street’ and that rectifying our problems ‘will require all of us to take some responsibility.’ Jon Corzine should have heeded the words of the President as he came before the Agriculture Committee, and he should have taken full and complete responsibility for the failures of MF Global.
After all, if a CEO can reap the rewards of success, then he should also be held accountable for the failures – even if he alleges he knew nothing about the conditions that caused them. It is reprehensible that Jon Corzine was chosen to lead this company, yet claims he knew nothing about what was going on. As I have said about others’ scandals, pleading ‘uninformed’ is either lying or a sign of incompetence.
As reported by Big Journalism, Washington Post “reporter” Ezra Klein was on Capitol Hill last week to brief Democrats on how to handle the failing of the SuperCommittee.
Through the story on Fishbowl DC, the whole thing seemed odd…even to those being briefed by a reporter:
A longtime Washington editor who deals with Capitol Hill regularly also said this is not the norm: “”I have never heard of a reporter briefing staffers. It’s supposed to be the other way around. This arrangement seems highly unusual.”
Klein is famously (see infamously) known for creating the Journ-O-list, an online gathering of 400 left-leaning journalists who shared, in Klein’s words, “…off-the-cuff analysis and instant reactions.” The exposure of the list caused the firing of one reporter, and forced Klein to shut down the list days later.
So much is made of the job of the reporter, and their duty to be objective. Klein’s objectivity can not be in doubt….he has none. That would not be a problem, unless, of course, he tries to tell his readers otherwise under the guise that working for The Washington Post gives him a certain credibility. As Big Journalism states:
Is Klein an editorialist, WaPo’s opinions-are-easier-than-facts equivalent to Keith Olbermann? Or is he a journalist, as he would like for his readers to believe, hiding behind the false veneer of objectivity in the hopes people will pass off his propaganda as truth?
Perhaps this a question best asked of The Washington Post.
After watching the most recent speech from President Obama on the debt and deficit, I can honestly say that there is no depth to which he won’t sink. It is stunning to see the president talk about compromise, when the Administration has yet to put forth its own plan. Stunning when you realize that the Senate, under Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) would not allow Cut, Cap and Balance to have an up or down vote. Stunning when he calls on Americans to call the Senate and House members to demand compromise, but walks out on those same negotiations.
This didn’t seem like a president who was effective. It looked like a panic-stricken leader who was now hoping the like-minded ideologues across America can place enough pressure on Washington to enact non-sensical tax increases. It seems obvious, based on the president’s words, that he is incapable of moving the nation forward based on his “rigid” ideology.
The president was elected to make hard decisions, yet he is unwilling to make any decision. He is supposed to be a great speaker, but has proven he is a horrible listener. And now, he has gone from speaking to begging….begging America to do what he wants, rather than accepting the idea of “compromise” himself.
If the left honestly thinks that he is not worried about re-election…Think again.
Tony is on fire, and lets loose on the political gamesmanship in the debt ceiling issue and yet another Obama press conference. Then, Tony discusses the important aspects of the Norway killings.
The story is not the photos. The story is the journalism — It’s back. And the MSM is finished.
As Weinergate broke and gained traction, a large majority of the MSM and leftist media stuck their heads in the sand. Joan Walsh of Salon.com savaged those who attempted to make this a story. On MSNBC, she seemed furious at Chris Matthews who — to his credit — would not let Walsh tie the reporting of Weinergate to the case involving Breitbart and Shirley Sherrod.
Others decided this is not a news story — it bores them. Former Clinton administration big-shot Paul Begala quipped to Anderson Cooper while pretending to yawn: “Wake me when we have a real sex scandal.”
The admission heard around the world! Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) admits that it is him in the photo, and that he sent the photo. Tony talks with Breitbart.tv editor Larry O’ Connor, Stephen Green and Dana Loesch producer Kane about what happens next.
Tony speaks with the Vodka Pundit, Stephen Green, about the irreparable harm of “prayer” and a discussing of the future of Rep. Anthony Weiner. Then, it’s the return of the Cigar Of The Week!
